Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer

StingRay Optics, a leading supplier of state of the art imaging systems, is searching for a Sr. Opto-Mechanical Engineer. The ideal applicant is mechanically adept and is a practiced problem solver.  Experience with mechanical tolerancing, motion control, manufacturing, and testing is essential.

The potential candidate’s background should include familiarity not only in the design of opto-mechanical systems but also demonstrable experience in the refinement, and assembly of complex innovative mechanical systems from concept to product.  

Experience leading a team effort or project management is desired.

The chosen team member will work with multi-discipline groups supporting programs through the application of mechanical design tools for the development and production phases of the prototype cycle.

Assignments may include opto-mechanical system design, finite element analysis, mechanical tolerancing, prototype development with optical component suppliers, optical testing, troubleshooting systems during build/prototyping, and providing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Requirements:  Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Ten + years related work experience in optical system design and a proven track record of creative thinking. 

Proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, and MS Office

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.  Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.  The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.  Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
